All roads lead inevitably to La Ceiba.
La Ceiba offers what no other city in Honduras can offer: lush and truly unspoiled tropical rainforest mixed with cool cloud forests in Pico Bonito National Park. It also has the Cangrejal River, as impetuous as the rafting that is practiced on it, and the Zacate River, which dazzles with its emerald green color.

The Cayos Cochinos Marine Sanctuary consists of a group of islands, Cayo Mayor and Cayo Menor, and 13 smaller keys or atolls (sand banks) of coral origin, located 30 kilometers northeast of La Ceiba, on the north coast of Honduras, and 45 kilometers from Roatan. In Cayo Menor, there is a scientific research station and the Visitor Center, which provides information on the rules of use and behavior of the Marine Natural Monument. Laws prohibit all types of commercial fishing, netting, and trapping within the marine park.
Pico Bonito National Park offers outstanding possibilities for hiking. In fact, Pico Bonito hiking is one of the top things to do in La Ceiba! There are several different areas that have authorized trails. There are two general areas for hiking in Pico Bonito National Park. One is along the Cangrejal River Valley. There is a magnificent suspension bridge over the Cangrejal River that gives you access to a network of trails. These include the El Mapache Trail that leads to the beautiful El Bejuco Waterfall. The bridge is only 8.5 km from the main CA13 highway.
